Dave Farrel, Williams Street

" I was born in Northampton. I was raised here. I went to Williams Street School, the Bridge Street School, Holly Grammar School. When I was in my freshman year of high school, I started working picking asparagus. I would get up at five o'clock in the morning, would pick asparagus until 7:30 or so. And then I'd go to school."

"You know, there was a total of my aunt and uncle and my two cousins, that's four. Six boys, that's ten. My mother and father, that's twelve. So there was twelve people living in this house for a good long time "

"That was my mother's father, okay, who operated that steamroller and worked to make streets in Northampton around the turn of the century, which is around 1900. The early, late 1800s, early 1900s. Okay. And that was, how he ended up being able to buy this house. This house was purchased when it was brand new by my grandfather, and he made enough money, he made good money doing that job, and was able to afford to buy the house and raise a family."
